Flowers.. Feathers..and Lights.. OH MY!

So… Originally I wanted to have huge flower bouquets as centerpieces. Very classic…Very classy. But then, I started to explore outside the box. What other types of centerpieces could I have that would weave into my old Hollywood theme? I turned to my trusty companion- google, and I began the hunt!
I came across these ostrich feather bouquets. Gorrrgggeous. Very glamorous. I wouldn’t mind doing these but there are a few problems. The first of which is that they are hard to find. Most likely I would have to order them online without getting to see them first…which means you can’t guarantee the quality of the feathers you receive. Also, I’ve seen some ostrich feather bouquets very poorly done. It could be a hit or miss. And lastly, if I do these bouquets I can’t wear my feather wrap with my dress because that would just be no bueno. I vote for the wrap. These ostrich feathers are beautiful..but I am just not quite sure if they are worth it. What I MAY do is not use these ostrich feathers for centerpieces but just as decor for door entrances. At least that way I can still have them. What do you think?
So…the search continued. Googling and googling my merry way until I stumbled upon these crystal candelabras. I really do loves these. Glamor much? These are very unique and I haven’t found many weddings that have done this idea. With these centerpieces I would probably alternate the candelabras and some flower bouquets. A room FULL of these would just be too much. These centerpieces would really create a romantic feel too with the lit candles. So far I’m leaning towards this idea. But I need to sleep on it some. What do you think?
I know.. it’s a mess. I’ll have to do some super major thinking and planning to pull all of this together. Right now it’s really scattered (as I am scatter brained)…and the whole idea isn’t meshing well. More on this when I solidify the plan.
Opinions please! I need them.

i’m a bit reluctant about the feathers, but i think that also has to do with personal taste. i think there’s a fine line btwn tacky and opulent any time you deal with feathers.
i do like the candelabras a lot, and you don’t necessarily have to go with the crystal draped ones either (although they do feel more vintage than the standard nickel plated ones). there are some nice examples of ways to utilize candelabras in the fete ny gallery i linked u to a while back:

i don’t have much to say re flowers, bc u can’t really go wrong there.

hmmm…I think you are RIGHT!
I was unsure about the feathers too. Theyre pretty in that picture but who knows what they could turn out to be like.
And I love the Feteny link… I like how they use short and tall candle holders mixed in together. I might take that idea.
Taaaank you Joan. ^_^

I just realized too.. that the ceilings have to be REALLY REALLY TALL to make the feathers work. And thats not the case at the Mandarin. Woot.

i love the idea of alternating the candle piece and flowers! but i must warn you about the candles. i have been to alot of weddings where the candles were a hassel. some would blow out and be constantly re-lit, and others, their wax would melt all over the table, and into foods, place settings, party favors, etc…
if there was a way to make the candles work without a mess that would be a great idea! just wanted to let you know

yen!! sorry i haven’t been commenting on a while. you know my work schedule and all. >__<
i absolutely love the crystals idea. reading all the comments above me, maybe one way to do it is to have the crystals drape on the floral centerpieces? i googled this pic and love the purple and pink colors. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ndd7nR0ew9Q/Sv7-lghKKKI/AAAAAAAAA4M/NYHR_X-2t7Y/s1600-h/Schneider_June20_528.jpg
